Exploring the integration and application of artificial intelligence in the teaching and learning of Chinese in Cameroon

This paper systematically explores the potential application, practical challenges, and developmental pathways of artificial intelligence in Chinese language teaching in Cameroon. The study indicates that AI technologies—through personalized learning support, intelligent speech training, and immersive scenario creation—can effectively enhance the efficiency and quality of Chinese language instruction, while offering new possibilities for resource-constrained educational environments. At the same time, its implementation faces multiple challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, insufficient digital literacy among teachers, data privacy risks, and a lack of adaptation between technology and the local teaching context. To achieve sustainable integration of AI and Chinese language teaching, it is essential to establish a collaborative support system involving multiple stakeholders, strengthen the professional development of teachers, establish ethical guidelines for technology application, and promote practice-oriented research based on local contexts. This paper argues that only by adhering to the principles of learner-centeredness, teacher leadership, and ethical standards can artificial intelligence become an effective force in enhancing the quality and efficiency of Chinese language education in Cameroon, promoting equitable development in language education, and providing valuable regional experience for the digital transformation of global Chinese language education.
